The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership: A Foundational Guide for Aysnd

The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership was instrumental in shaping the foundation of Aysnd.

From the start, we knew we wanted to build a conscious business—one that prioritizes mindfulness, wellness, and purposeful intent. Both Mickey and Carrie committed to integrating the principles outlined in the book into our company culture, making them a guiding force in how we operate.

We’re launching a series of posts exploring each of the 15 commitments and will update this article as we go. Our goal is to share key insights from the book while also reflecting on how these principles have impacted us personally and shaped our journey at Aysnd.

Above-the-Line vs. Below-the-Line Leadership

One of the most valuable takeaways from the book is the distinction between leading above the line and below the line

  • Above-the-line leadership is open, curious, and committed to learning.

  • Below-the-line leadership is closed off, defensive, and committed to being right.

The key is self-awareness—the ability to recognize where you are at any given moment and to be honest with yourself. Leadership isn’t about always being above the line; it’s about the willingness to acknowledge when you’re not and the commitment to shift. Mistakes are inevitable, but they’re also opportunities to grow. At Aysnd, we strive to be kind to ourselves and each other, always working toward improvement.
